CHOOSE LIFE TAG PRE-ORDERS
NOW BEING FILLED AT COUNTY TAX OFFICES
Now that January 1, 2007 has finally arrived, tag offices
across Georgia
are taking pre-orders for the Choose Life tag. To
ensure that you are one of the 1,000 that make the Choose Life tag a
reality, go to your Tax Commissioner’s Office in your local county.
Tell them you would like pre-order (pre-pay) a Choose Life tag
for your vehicle and be prepared to pay the $25 fee.
Once 1,000 Choose Life tags have been sold, production can begin
after July 1, 2007.
What if your birthday falls before July 1, 2007?
If your birthday falls during the first half of 2007, it
is necessary to pay your regular tag and title fees as in years past.
By reserving the Choose Life tag (paying the $25 fee), your
regular tag will remain valid until production begins and your Choose
Life tag is sent to you in the latter part of 2007.
It will be necessary to renew your Choose Life tag in 2008.
What if your birthday falls after July 1, 2007?
Once 1,000 tags are sold, the state of
Georgia can begin producing the Choose
Life plates beginning July 1, 2007. According to
state officials, however, it will take several months to develop the
template and actually produce the official tag.
It is likely that those born in July and August need to
pay the regular ad valorem tax that is collected on all vehicles and
receive the regular tag. Once the Choose Life tags
are issued, the Choose Life tag will be sent to you and can replace the
regular tag. The later your birthday falls in 2007,
the more likely the chances that you will be able to purchase a Choose
Life tag that will be immediately available for your vehicle.
Can I Pre-Order the tags online at the
Department of Revenue website?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to pre-order tags
through the Department of Revenue’s website at the present time.
The state’s online registration is for currently available tags
and requires receipt of your registration renewal notice and RIN number
before the process can be initiated.

When 1,000 tags have been sold and production begins, the
Choose Life tag will also be added to the above list.
