THANK YOU FOR YOUR CALLS!
Senator Don Balfour, sponsor of SB 155, the bill that
would require 11 and 12 year old girls to have the HPV vaccine prior to
entering the sixth grade, has pulled the bill. Quoted in the Macon Telegraph
on Friday, March 16 Senator Balfour said, "There was just too much sentiment
against the bill."
According to the Telegraph, …"the fact that HPV is a
sexually transmitted disease seemed to do the most to derail Balfour’s
legislation…Doctors said mandates are more appropriate for diseases that are
highly communicable... such as measles."
A huge thank you to all the churches that used our
Bulletin Insert last Sunday alerting their members to this bill, and why we
were opposed to the mandate. Thanks to all our friends who forwarded the
Insert to their email family.
Without your response to our alerts, this would not
have happened. YOU made the difference, once again!
