HB 2 – Georgia Security Immigration Compliance Act
In 2006, Governor Perdue signed the Georgia Security and Immigration
Compliance Act (GSICA) into law. Essentially, it is legislation saying
that in Georgia, we must obey federal immigration law.
Representative Tom Rice has sponsored HB 2 that, if passed into law,
will penalize local governments, both city and county, for continued
violation of the 2006 law.
This legislation will not move forward without your help.
GSICA mandates that the local governments in Georgia use federally
provided data-bases ( E-Verify and SAVE) to be sure that taxpayer
dollars do not go to hire illegal labor or to grant illegal aliens most
“public benefits” - like welfare, public housing assistance or
permission to open a business here in Georgia.
Local governments in Georgia should not be rewarding illegal aliens who
escape Border Patrol Agents with a business license.
Our economy is spiraling downward, unemployment is rising in Georgia,
government services for the citizens of Georgia are being cut - yet, few
local governments are in compliance with GSICA.
Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) recently published a
report estimating that Georgia currently spends about $1.6 billion a
year for illegal aliens and their dependents to provide K-12 education,
public health care, and incarceration of criminals. When the law is
enforced, statistics prove that those here illegally leave the area.
Please make that call.
