KEEPING THE FAITH ACTION ALERT January 12, 2006 YOUR VOICE AT THE CAPITOL! Today, I participated in a press conference at the State Capitol with Senator Gregg Goggins and others from the General Assembly to express our support for “The Georgia Child, Family and School Communications Protection Act.” This bill will enable schools and parents with minor children to register their domain or email address with the state so that they do not receive objectionable material. My comments were as follows: “The Christian Coalition of strongly supports “The Georgia Child, Family and School Communications Protection Act,” and we commend Senator Greg Goggins for putting this legislation forward in the 2006 Legislative Session.” With the proliferation of pornography on the Internet and with child predators using this technology to entice children, expanded protections must be put into place.
This legislation will help the families and educators of With strong bi-partisan support this bill will most certainly pass. Once it is signed into law, we will send out an alert and post the information on our web site as to how you can sign up for the service. ##### After leaving the Capitol I went to WNIV Radio to record this Sunday’s “Community Perspectives” show with host Kellie Alexander. The show will air three times on Sunday, January 15 – on WFSH 104.7FM at 6:00 a.m. (www.thefishatlanta.com) on WGKA 920AM at 12:30 p.m. (www.920wgka.com) – on WNIV 970AM/WLTA 1400am @ 6 p.m. (www.wniv.com) ##### As we speak, the General Assembly is debating the Voter ID bill. Our organization is in support of this legislation for obvious reasons – verifiable identification should be required in order to participate in the electoral process. Surely, most can see that. #####
Senator Jeff Chapman has added language to S. B. 86,
which addresses the eminent domain issue, that will strengthen the bill
in favor Georgia’s property owners. He is also
introducing a constitutional amendment that will effectively repeal in
part and modify in part current constitutional language that may
conflict with S. B. 86. Senator Chapman believes
this amendment is critical due to the fact that in the Kelo v. Senator Chapman believes that no matter how strongly we protect private property rights in S. B. 86, if constitutional language is more permissive, then property rights are still vulnerable. James Madison noted in The Federalist Papers, No. 10, “It is of great importance in a republic not only to guard the society against the oppression of its rulers, but to guard one part of society against injustice of the other past.” Please call House Chairman wendell Willard at 404-656-5125 and encourage him to allow S. B. 86 out of committee. Or you can e-mail him at wkwillard@hotmail.com.
Thank you for Keeping The Faith. |
