The Senate Throws Down the Gauntlet:

Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
By Congressman Charlie Norwood

On Monday, March 27, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12-6 to grant blanket amnesty to all illegal immigrants in the United States, and to allow vastly expanded access to America by more foreign workers in the future. The full Senate is expected to vote on the proposal within the next two weeks. All 8 Democrats on the panel voted for amnesty; 6 of 10 Republican panel members voted against it.

Many Americans were shocked and outraged to see hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens swarming the streets of American cities waving Mexican flags in support of the Senate giveaway. The demonstrations vividly documented how failure to secure our borders is leading America into chaos.

In December, the House of Representatives approved a very different

immigration reform plan, by a 239-182 margin. 203 Republicans and 36
Democrats voted yes. The House plan contained nothing about dealing with current illegal aliens. It instead would provide massive support for
regaining control of our borders, new worker identification tools to let
employers know when they are hiring illegal workers, authorize and fund
local law enforcement assistance of federal immigration officers, and impose tough new penalties for illegal aliens and employers who knowingly hire them.

It is vitally important to know where the citizens of Georgia's Ninth

Congressional District stand on this issue. While online polls are not
scientifically accurate, it should at least provide information on where
many folks are leaning.

You can find the poll on the Internet at <http://www.house.gov/norwood>. For those without access to a computer, the following questions and responses can be mailed to:
